Nation mourns over the demise of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a renowned Statesman, three times Prime Minister of India and a heart touching poet. Atla Bihari Vajpayee was an inheritor and a practitioner of refined traditions. He possessed all the qualities of a good leader with a perfect sense of compassion and humor. He was often called “Anmol Ratna” or the “Bharat Ratna”.
His immense and selfless contributions made him one of the most famous sons of India. His “Good Governance” was highly appreciated by people from all the spheres.
The demise of Atal Bihari Vajpayee
The demise of Atal Bihari Vajpayee has left the nation in deep sorrow. His death evolved as a saddening news for India and many other countries including its neighbors – Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The 93-year-old politician, after a prolonged illness, suffered from pneumonia and multi-organ failure, was also put on Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) support on his last day. The doctors at AIIMS Delhi said that the brave and noble former PM, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was battling for life. He took his last breath at 5:05 pm on 16th August 2018 which marked the end of this renowned statesman.

People from all over the world have reacted strongly and dishearteningly on India’s greatest loss. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief and PM-designate Imran Khan expressed grief over Atal Bihari’s demise. “There is a void in politics of South Asia after his death. There can be political differences but the desire for peace remains present across the border. We stand with India in this difficult time “, he said.
Bangladesh Prime Minister also expressed condolences for the death of the former Prime Minister. He titled Vajpayee as “One of the most famous sons of India”. People held Atalji responsible for contributing towards good governance. It was Atal Bihari Vajpayee who highlighted the issues affecting common people of India. It was he who established regional peace and prosperity. The US embassy in India, with profound grief, also lamented over the loss. “The United States grieves with India on the loss of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He was a Father Figure for many other politicians who were left speechless hearing about the demise of one of the most famous sons of India.

He took India to new heights by introducing various economic reforms. Under his tenure, the GDP of India increased lowering the inflation level. He maintained a stable economy irrespective of various catastrophic events which took place during his tenures like earthquake, drought, cyclones, the Kargil conflict and an attack on the Parliament. He is a person who is responsible for giving rise to private business in India i.e. Privatisation. It was his government who introduced a revenue-sharing model under the new Telecom Industry. He liberalized the Education Policies resulting in free elementary education for children aged 6-14 years for the first time. Vajpayee strengthened the global ties under his reign.
